About the Diagnosis Zone

Engineers have a big part to play in finding out when there’s something medically wrong with us and keeping us healthy. Modern hospitals are filled with cutting-edge technology designed and made by engineers, used for testing and diagnosing what’s wrong.

In this zone you will meet one engineer who looks at people’s brains in order to diagnose diseases earlier, one who designs equipment for scientists carrying out biological research and one who is trying to 3D print devices that can analyse tiny things like cells and pollen. There is an engineer who uses lasers to research cancer, another who makes wearable sensors which help us understand brain disease and another who designs medical equipment which helps doctors find out what’s wrong.
