“It’s 2016, where’s my robot butler?!” Not far off, is the likely answer (they just can’t quite get the right tea to milk ratio yet). But in what other ways can robotics change our lives? Can robots care for the elderly? Is it possible for them to save lives in disaster zones? Will autonomous cars make driving tests pointless? And, at this point, do they technically own Mars? This zone will feature engineers from this rapidly expanding field ready to answer your questions, although they’re not allowed to let a robot stand in for them. Yet.
In the Robotics Zone you will meet engineers trying to give underwater robots a sense of touch and water flow, desgining tools and upgrades for underwater, remote controlled robots, and working on all the machines that make crumpets, welshcakes, bread and the robotics that move and pack pancakes on the worlds largest pancake line. There is also one engineer designing the body of Europe’s first Mars Rover, and another one working on a secret mission to make sure machines don’t take over the world!
