Welcome to the Space Zone

How many people rely on space technology? More than you might think! There are over 2,500 active satellites in orbit around our planet and we use them for all sorts of things – from giving us the weather forecast, to transmitting extra TV channels, to monitoring crop growth and global emergencies.

The Space Zone ran from the 2nd to 27th November 2020 as part of I’m an Engineer: On Demand.

The Space Zone was funded by the UK Space Agency, and UKRI Science and Technologies Facilities Council.
