I grew up near Portsmouth where I went to school and sixth form.I then went to Lancaster University and now i’m in Leicester
GCSE’s mostly A-B, A levels in Physics, Maths and Biology, BsC Physics & Astrophysics, MsC in Astronautics & Space Engineering
I have worked in corner shops and at a gun club. After university I went to work for a company in France where I was a satellite engineer.
Astro-nut, climber, gamer
I live in Leicester with my girlfriend, I like climbing on weekends and I like going to other countries to climb for holiday. I’m a big fan of the Simpsons and video games. I’ve been playing a lot of Among Us with my friends this week…
I research new satellite designs to visit other planets. I look at making satellites smaller and cheaper so we can start sending a lot more!
Visiting other planets is difficult and expensive, there are some planets in our solar system that we have only ever visited once! We haven’t sent any satellite to Uranus since 1986, more than 30 years ago…
I look at new ways to design satellites to make them cheaper and easier to launch. I hope that one day these satellites will let us visit other planets more often, so we can learn more about what they’re made of, and maybe even if there is life out there!
My Typical Day: I start work at 9am, I work on my laptop to simulate how satellites work, I do a lot of writing and sometimes I teach university students
Every day is different with a PhD, but a lot of the time it’s a balance of researching, writing the research you’ve already done into articles/papers, teaching, going out into schools and public events to discuss science, and lot’s of other things. Sometime’s it’s tough to do so many things at once, but it’s rewarding as well!
What I'd do with the money
Rocket launch demonstrator
We’ve had some outreach events at university by creating a rocket using rubbing alcohol, i’d like to produce a version of this that would be easy to transport and take to public events/school to demonstrate how rocket propulsion works.

Why do space rocks taste better than Earth rocks? They're a little meteor
