Time management is a big thing to learn, which i still struggle with sometimes. We work on several jobs at a time, whilst providing technical support to other jobs. All have different deadlines to meet and differing levels of work required. It can be difficult to meet all targets if time is not managed properly.
My organisation skills. There is a lot of work load involved in engineering and I sometimes found that I would have little time to complete some of my work before deadlines. This was due to the fact that I hadn’t planned my worked load or accommodated for loss time due to unexpected problems which had occurred on site (This would put a hold on the tasks which I needed to complete) I have become better at this by planning.
The most thing I struggled with when I became an engineer, is adapting to my surroundings. After just coming out of school, I had no idea what to expect. This industry was all very new to me, to be quite honest it was quite intimidating at first. However with time and experience you slowly start to accept your surroundings, becoming more comfortable. Engineering is a career that always keeps you on your toes, you have to learn to be accepting to change.
