  Sense of satisfaction, that you have played a part in improving someone life. Elation and relief when you finally cracked it for a patient who struggles to hear with the implant and its finally restored their sense of hearing after weeks or months an occasionally years.

  Great! Really happy for them and happy to have helped! It makes the hard work and any personal sacrifices worth it.

  It’s a great feeling. I don’t meet that many patients, but when you do it’s great to know you were involved in improving their lives.
  
  I think all engineers get that feeling, even if they’re not working in healthcare. For example a better designed building, or a well designed transport system will improves people’s lives, even if it isn’t in quite as obvious a way 🙂
