Hi again Geoff,
You have lots of great questions! Especially this one. This is a question I wish I had asked/known.
For university the interview was one on one with one of the lecturers and he asked me general question about me. Then he gave me a sheet about a clinical problem and then asked me questions about it and how I would go about solving it.
For my PhD it was a panel interview (4 people) so they took turns asking me questions.
Hope that helps!
For the interview to become a lecturer I had to give two presentations – one on the research I was doing and one on what I could teach. I was then interviewed by four people which was quite nerve racking! Each had a different area that they asked me about to do with teaching or research. I found out after I’d accepted the job that they had also sent my journal papers around to other people at the university to ask what they thought of my research. Fortunately they liked in and I now collaborate with several of them 🙂
