I went to school and 6th form in Gloucestershire and then went to the University of Bath where i did Physics and Engineering. I loved discovering the rules that governed the universe and how we could use those to create new technologies.

My Work

I’ve used my understanding of computers, maths and physics to allow me to program robots. I have been programming the robots to help people get dressed so that one day they might be able to help people who really need it, like my Nan!
-
My Typical Day: Some reading, working on some type of code at my computer or designing experiments.

I usually try to read for at least one hour each day, either a textbook chapter, a scientific paper or some other scientific literature. I may have 2-3 meetings per week, either helping MSc or PhD students or meeting with my manager. I am currently working with people in other countries and so I usually have 1-2 skype calls per week with my international colleagues. I usually try and write every day too, even if it is just for 30 minutes, a lot of my work involved telling other people (scientists and general public) about my work to help other people learn from what I have been working on. I also do experiments with my robots, record the data and analyse it using various codes (matlab and python). I usually go running on wednesday lunchtimes with some friends and often meet with friends and visitors showing them around the lab.

What I'd do with the money
Get a group of aspiring roboticists to come and visit the laboratory and come and see what it's like.
