@09tolat1: I cannot claim any national or international discoveries but on a smaller scale I have worked on things like designing and developing a low-noise gradient coil that goes inside an MRI machine. The original coils caused loud, almost banging noises when they were pulsed and I helped make the design of a quieter one. This has meant that patients are less frightened in the machine and I, along with two or three others hold a patent on the design. This was an important ‘discovery’ for my company then.
