• Question: if there was one thing you can change about life as an engineer what woulds it be

      Probably that the word engineer should reflect professional engineers and not include mechanics, photocopy servicers and gas men….and that we get paid a LITTLE more money generally. Is that asking too much?

      I think I would just increase people’s understanding of what engineers do. There is such a variety of careers out there and sometimes people don’t realise that engineers – even ones that did the same university course – don’t all do similar projects.

      I agree with Robin, the average person doesn’t really know what an engineer does – people often picture a stereotypical, “man in a hardhat and fluorescent vest”. So, I would start with ensuring that everyone knows why engineers exist.
