My work is all about how heat is transferred from one place to another so I use a lot of theories about how heat passes through different materials – there are different theories for solids, liquids and gases, and they depend on whether the liquid or gas is moving and what temperature everything starts at. The process that converts the heat from the sun into cold to cool the fridge actually produces heat as well, so I have to learn the theories about how much heat is produced and how fast so that I can take that into account as well.

These theories include: Fourier’s law, Conduction equation, Dittus-Boelter correlation, Adsorption isotherms, and the Linear Driving Force model.

I am and engineer and these theories tend to be used in physics. When explaining Fusion I use Einstein’s E=MC-squared, or his explaination of how energy and mass are interchangeable. This is advanced as it gets! Regards robin
