About the Energy Zone

Wind farm near Stirling, in Scotland | Image: Richard Webb

We’ve come a long way since Newton and Kelvin, but making energy work for us is still a hot topic. This zone will include engineers working in a wide range of areas whose work involves energy in some way. From designing and manufacturing renewable energy sources, to developing new materials for batteries, to managing power supplies for particle accelerators, it’s all got potential.

In this zone you’ll meet six engineers, including one making giant versions of microwave ovens to make atom smashers for Cern, another working as a project engineer for a company laying subsea cables for the oil and gas industry, and another working on Electricity Grids.
