• Question: Did you enjoy Physics (or any other engineer related subjects) when you were in school?

      I really enjoyed Physics, especially at A level. I enjoyed the nuclear physics and astro physic side the best

      Yes, I did too. But I had good teachers – I think that makes all the difference

      Hi 378envf27!

      I really enjoyed maths and picked further maths at A Level because of this. I found mechanics really interesting and it linked a lot with physics, studying forces and momentum and things like that.

      I enjoyed parts of Physics but equally struggled with Physics at A Level – I couldn’t understand things like time dilation (I still couldn’t tell you what it was!) and I wasn’t brilliant at circuits and electromagnetism – its probably why I’m a Civil Engineer! The more practical – and non electrical – parts of physics I did (and didn’t!) enjoy have been really useful for Engineering though so it was definitely worth persevering with.

      I’d have probably understood physics a lot better if I’d known how it all fits in with what I’m doing as an Engineer! For example I’m now doing lots of research and lab tests that involve understanding frequency, amplitude and wavelength – a concept I struggled with at school 🙂

      I actually didnt do Physics at A-level. I didn’t hate it, I just found other things more interesting! I didn’t want to take only science & maths subjects, as I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do yet, so I stuck with Maths and Chemistry but did French and History too.

      I did enjoy the mechanics modules in maths which explained how things move – and that’s a sort of physics really. In hindsight, Physics might have been handy to study, but I’m still glad I studied a good mixture of things that interested me.
