      Hi Tommy 🙂

I would create a solution to climate change! A clean, renewable, cheap source of energy so that we can have a great quality of life, and keep developing, without damaging the planet any more.

Unfortunately it’s not that simple – people used to hope the magic solution would come along, so that we could continue living the way we are now without making any compromises. We’re all now realising that the solution to climate change is going to be lots of different things all combined together. Some of them will be technical, some will be down to the politicians, and some of them will be about the personal choices each person makes.

      What would you make?

      Simple….. A Time Machine.
We could go back and change the bits we have made a bit of a mess of.

Well, since Jeni has solved climate change and Mark’s time machine is going to mean we can fix loads of other stuff that we messed up, I dont need to worry about those things anymore.
So I’d make something that would allow me to fly, but without wings or an engine.
When I was little I often used to dream I could fly and it was just like swimming through the air – I’d love to be able to do that!

Not sure how you’d achieve it with a machine, so maybe I’m cheating and not answering the question properly…?!

      Hi Tommy 🙂

Well it looks like we have most things solved by Jeni and Mark! But I think I’d build a machine that could tell us exactly (down to the second) when a natural disaster was going to happen. Being able to tell people about earthquakes, landslides, tsunamis, tornados, floods and other disasters would save lots of lives and prevent huge amounts of destruction.

We’ve come a long way with being able to warn people about earthquakes and there’s some really cool work going on at the moment about landslides – using images from satellites to track tiny movements in slopes that might lead to big landslides later – but we still can’t give people super accurate warnings and some disasters are missed.

      What would you create? 🙂
