Wow what a question!!! My career means a lot to me – I’ve worked and studied lots to be where I am and I love what I do. It’s such a great feeling knowing you’re designing or researching something that will improve peoples’ living. I don’t think I’d want to be doing any other job 🙂
Another good question BrightSpark
My career is something very important to me, once I decided that I was going to be an engineer, I could not think of having another career, there are lots of different branches of civil engineering, so you never get bored with it, there are always new things happening.
Hello again BrightSpark! I think you deserve the prize money for asking so many questions!!
My career is the third most important thing in my life after my faith and my family. I spend a lot of time and energy on it and so I want to do things that I’m passsionate about and that really make a difference. That’s why I would like to get into a job where I can shape the way a big organisation operates and make it more sustainable and environmentally friendly
My career is fairly important to me, because I have been lucky enough to find a career I am passionate about. When you spend 8 hours a day doing a job, it’s nice to know you enjoy it.
It’s the sort of job you can stand up and be proud about. I am proud to be an engineer because what engineers do is important for society. We are not saving people’s lives in the same way that a doctor or nurse might, but we are helpful in a less direct way. For example, I used to work on a site that processed up to 10% of the UK’s natural gas. If the engineers there had done a bad job, they could potentially stop a huge amount of the UK’s gas supply getting to people’s homes and power stations!
Of course, there are plenty of other things in my life which are important to me, and which I enjoy doing. It’s always good to have a good balance between work and life – knowing when to relax, when to work, and when to have fun 🙂
