My favourite invention would be the mobile phone, Iโm constantly using mine!
It combines so many previous great inventions all in one โ the camera, the telephone, the internet and it has led to the creation of all these fab apps we have โฆ and my guilty pleasure Candy Crush!! I donโt think I could do my research without my phone as it allows me to always be in contact with people. I spend my time talking with people all over the world, especially in China, so having my mobile and being able to video call them or email them at the press of a button is great and much easier than waiting for a letter!! Iโm also really rubbish at remembering what I did a week ago, especially when I might have done a couple more lab tests since then, so having my phone means I can take pictures of all my tests!
Right now I’d say it’s the electric grill – I just made myself a cheese toastie for my lunch and it’s delicious!
But usually, I think I’d say the internet. Even just since I was little (which isn’t very long ago!!), the internet has totally transformed the way we work, how we talk to our friends, and what we do for fun. It makes billions of lives better in tons of different ways. The opportunities are endless!
For me its got to be the internet.
Having finished university before Google was launched, I have seen the internet grow and develop. It has made my life easier as an engineer, but the thing I find is that the information on the internet is more opinion than fact. Don’t always trust what you read!!!
Well, I would have said the internet but since thats already taken, I will have to pick something else!
I think the aeroplane wing is a pretty cool invention. The shape of it means that as air passes over it, it creates lift and movement. There are now lots of ways that we use this invention, not just in aeroplanes. Racing sailing boats like they use in the Americas cup use it when they sail to get the most speed they can. And wind turbines use it to capture the power of the wind and turn it into electricity. It’s used to keep F1 cars on the track and jet engines use it to create thrust to move the aircraft forward.
So lots of things we do rely on it.
