Thanks so much for all the votes and your great questions, it has been a crazy experience (all good of course) but been so lovely to chat and get to know you all! I have been really honoured to participate alongside the other engineers and from their answers you can see that they are all fantastic at their jobs.
I had no idea what I was getting myself in for coming into the competition but I quickly realised that I was becoming even more passionate about engineering after speaking to you all. I am so grateful to have been a part of this event and to show that you don’t have to choose one subject and stick to it for the rest of your career. For everyone who has now become interested in engineering, remember that you have a huge world of opportunity and adventure open to you, the sky really is the limit. 🙂
I hope I also gave you a few ideas of what you can do in the future and to show you how interesting engineering really can be.
My main aim was to get across the role a food engineer plays in the development of everyday products that you eat, which you probably don’t even think about. I hope I have given you a lot more knowledge about what goes into making new food products and sent you on a journey to find out more.
Now about the prize… I am going to spend the money working on workshops (with lots of activities) for students who currently don’t have any visiting engineers and scientists and give them some ideas of what they can do in the future. I might even surprise you all at your school if you’re lucky! I also want to spend some of it for a project abroad with food engineering if possible but I will be sure to keep you all updated with how it goes!
All the best for the future and don’t forget to keep those curious brains going and continue to keep asking loads of questions! 🙂
