      Awesome observation there!

      In my spare time I volunteer as an instructor with the Royal Marines Cadets (a part of the Sea Cadet Corps)

      In that role I work with young people between the age of 13 and 18 and teach them skills like map reading, how to make a shelter in the open, how to survive in woodland etc. I also teach them how to kayak and canoe.

      We follow a similar training programme to the Royal Marines themselves (only more designed for all levels of fitness for young people)

      I also teach them, and Sea Cadets elements of engineering.

      Being an instructor with the Royal Marines Cadets we wear the beret of the Royal Marines (not the green beret which Marines get once they have passed out of training) something which I am proud to be able to wear.
