Hello, a good question! In the past two years the stand hasn’t been very exciting as I don’t use a lot of specialist of equipment at work , just my brain, so it is difficult to show students about my job and nuclear engineering! I’d like to use half the money to build a model of a submarine and the reactor so that students can see how it all goes together in such a small space. Also, the model would have coloured water in it so that everyone could see how the water flows through the nuclear reactor to the steam generators to turn the turbines and power the submarine.
With the other half of the money I would like to set up a series of challenges for students to compete in to show the science side of nuclear engineering. The one who completed all the challenges in the quickest time would be given a prize at the end of the day.
