I have quite a few achievements that make me proud (and keep me going during the tough days). I think my favourite one is the completion of my first off-grid electricity system. This was before I became an engineer. I designed and installed the entire system from a book that I got out of the library (as I didn’t have electricity, I also didn’t have any internet!) and amazingly it worked first time. Which was kind of handy as I had run all of the cables in the walls and underground so it would have been disastrous if I needed to pull it all apart again.
One of my best achievements was finishing my PhD in engineering. This took almost 4 years of research and a lot of effort! In the end, I proved that my method of predicting how jet engine blades vibrate can result in damage to the blades actually works.
Needless to say, I was pretty relieved and proud when I handed in my thesis (the 250-page document we are supposed to write with all of our findings).
