• Question: Do you believe that your work will make a difference in the world?

      Hello laceyc. 🙂

      My work definitely makes a difference in this world. I help with getting medical devices to sick people all over the world and I do my best to make sure there are no delays, so that patients don’t have to wait unnecessarily for treatment.

      I also help engineering teams to make products better, safer and more efficient.

      We try to reduce cost and waste that will reduce any impact on the environment and we use materials that do not come from animals. 🙂

      I hope that it does. It may be small changes but if I can make hospital beds more comfortable and easier to use, that means patients are better able to recover from their illnesses and medical staff are able to perform their duties much more easily.
      I feel that if something I design or an idea I have that helps just one person recover, even that it might save their lafe, that would mean I have made a tremendous difference. This is why I care so much about engineering the things we make the best that we can.

      Yes actually, I do. We make medicines that save people’s lives, and that is really important!
      We have real patients come to talk to us every now and then about how the kind of medicines we make can change their lives, and it’s really motivating to be able to solve some of the issues they have.

      I think so. Because I work on things (medical devices) which improves people’s health or help them to maintain their health or sometimes save their lives. I like to think that my work makes direct difference in the world and for better!

      I hope so!!!

      I feel like helping scientists and engineers plug into their local communities and communicate better with non-scientists and young students will make a big difference. I hope that I can start an initiative that will really get scientists and the public talking to one another in simple language! We all have so much to learn from science, and so many of our world’s problems depend on scientists and non-scientists, engineers and non-engineers working together.
