The globe IS amazing!!! There are nanomaterials all around us… did you know that butterflies use nanomaterials on their wings so that their wings don’t get wet? The tiny nano-ridges in their wings are too small for the water to get into. And did you know that moth eyes have nano-structures that are very good at absorbing light, so good that moths can see perfectly well in almost complete darkness!
As an engineer, I worked with nanomaterials all the time. I made nanoparticles for medical and drug experiments – I even started making nanoparticles that had ‘radio-active’ agents attached to them that we can use in machines used to see inside your body and detect any cancer inside of you.
