At the moment I am in charge of a project to design a new hospital bed, so most of my time is spent drawing up new designs in 3D on my computer. I sometimes have to talk to customers over the phone if they are having any problems or have any queries.
I need to always talk to people who are on my project so we know what everyone is doing and not doubling up on work or forgetting about certain things. Often we’ll have meetings if we need to work together to solve a problem.

I do experiments in the lab, and I run simulations on the computer, all to understand the process that I’m trying to run. I would also look online for technologies that would help us be more efficient, and do some trials to see whether they work for us.
Pretty much everything I do, I do with people who studied different things.

Hello mannI10. Thanks for coming to this event, it’s great to see you here.

The things I do in my job change all the time, but here’s a list of some of the things that keep me busy:

Measuring and making sure everything fits
      Investigating problems and solving them
Checking jobs have been done properly
Writing instructions for people to follow
      Training staff to do jobs
Drawing on computers to design new products
      Making flash animations
      Designing websites, brochures and magazines
Travelling all over the world to share information and ideas
      Programming machines
Blowing things up in a lab
Testing things to see if they work
      Meetings with government officials
      Reading
      Writing user guides

      I hope that helps.
If you have any more questions, please ask. 🙂

I am working on a machine which tests artificial knees. Natural knee in our body can be replaced by an artifical knee. This is done when natural knee is damaged.

We have made a device which tests artifical knees; before artifical knees go into peoples bodies. I work on that device. I test to make sure artificial knee will work properly once inside person’s body. I test to make sure that artificial knee can live longer (for years).

So, I have to do drawings (of the device and knees), I have to test things, I have to measure things after testing. I measure them with a special (optical-laser based) device.

      Mannl10,

Here are just some of the things that I do on a daily basis:

      – Drink lots of coffee to stay awake
      – Interview scientists about their cool projects
      – Talk to engineers at LSU about what they are currently working on
      – Write stories about scientific progress and what cool science and engineering projects are going on at LSU and elsewhere in the world
      – Manage my blog as well as a community of student bloggers at Nature Education
      – Coach kids and teach them how to dive head first in the water 🙂
      – Go to class to learn about mass communications, how Twitter and Facebook are changing journalism and science, and many other cool things!
      – Attend conferences where scientists talk about their work
      – Design surveys / questionnaires used to assess how students think about science and environmental media
      – many other various activities!
