  Yes drawings are essential part of my work but not an architecture.
  
  I am a biomedical engineer and I work on building medical devices. And when you are building any medical device, you need drawing of the device. You also need, detailed drawings of each and every part of the device. Sometimes you might need a diagram/drawing explaining how the device works. This is called as a working drawing.
  
  I would say, engineers who work on building/designing something (buildings, aero-planes, cars, medical devices) they all need drawings. Chemical engineer may not need a drawing..
  
  And architecture is usually associated with buildings, so architects and civil engineers work together.
