I love my job! I get to work on some amazing buildings and make a real difference in making them better. I love getting to see buildings that I have worked on and see people using them (and using them myself). I love that by knowing how things work (in my case, knowing about fire, buildings and people), I can make a difference.
My job has it’s ups and downs; research is a difficult field to really succeed in. The challenge itself of trying to achieve something no one on the planet has ever achieved before is quite thrilling! It can also be frustrating when things don’t quite go your way.
The other parts of my job such as assisting in teaching activities is an absolute blast. I love every moment of that part of my job.
My coding club is one of my favourite parts of my job though, getting meet various students and teachers and watching them develop their skills is incredibly rewarding.
I enjoy my job. I like the flexibility is has and also how the work is varied. Now two days are similar and I am constantly learning in many different aspects from my knowledge of science to communication skills. I get to meet many different types of people and have interesting conversations. There are difficult times but I feel anything worth doing requires hard work and won’t always be easy 🙂
My job is awesome (as is engineering in general)! I do really enjoy it! I especially like it for two reasons, and these apply to many engineering jobs:-
1) It’s really, really interesting and you get to learn how the world works.
2) It genuinely helps people, and you can see the effects of what you do, and the difference that you make to people’s lives.
