• Question: Has anyone ever discriminated against for doing this type of job? has anyone ever said anything against it? If so, how did you resolve this issue. If confused, an example is, has anyone ever commented against you for making a product and its use not being good.

So far I’ve been very fortunate and haven’t been discriminated against on any grounds. Be it race, gender, sexual orientation or even my abilities.
Generally employment law protects people from this kind of behaviour. Engineers are also trained in professional conduct so they should know not to slander another engineer for a blunder they have made or a faulty product.

Thankfully I haven’t but I don’t have any experience to say whether this does or doesn’t happen. I believe if everything you do is with good intentions and everything there is reasoning behind the actions and decisions you make then then you should be proud of your work. Some of the greatest geniuses were told that what they were doing was “crazy/ useless” but that didn’t stop them.

I’ve never had anyone comment or pass judgement on my choice of career.

But for sure I’ve had negative feedback on a design, but generally the product would be tested and judged many times over before it ever reached a customer and so any negative areas can be fixed. All feedback can be useful, if anything negative feedback is easier to use than positive.
