Yes, but partly that’s cause i spend 5 full days a week at work. So it’s really important to me that a) i enjoy getting up and going to work every morning, b) my job is interesting and different every day, c) it gives me chances to do things like travel, give talks at conferences, interact with customers and other companies from different parts of the world,e tc. And i think engineering does all that for me, so it’s very important to me.
Yeh, I think it does. I have to come to work 5 days a week, week after week, and year after year. So it’s a big part of my life. This is why I’m really thankful I do a job I enjoy! I work alongside some really great people and we work on some amazing projects – I guess I’m really quite proud of what we achieve!
It does mean a lot, but it’s not everything. I only work part-time, three days a week, so that I can also spend time doing other things that I enjoy.
It’s a part of who I am, though; I have always loved science and technical subjects and I enjoy working somewhere that’s pushing the boundaries of knowledge. I wouldn’t be happy if it was ALL that I did, but I’d hate it if I didn’t do it at all!
