Hmmm! I’m not a plumber so it’s quite hard to answer. I imagine there’s lots of different ways to train to be a plumber – your school’s career advisor could probably help you find the right information – I’d ask them! I bet there’s plenty of info online about how to be a plumber – maybe you could even try getting some work experience with a trusted local plumber, it would be a great way to find out more about the job!

Agree with @mike about the experience: do anything you can to get an internship, or work experience, or something of the sort. It’s by far the best way to know if you’ll like plumbing, or engineering, or office work, or anything else you can think of. Plus it looks really good on your work history when you go to apply to jobs someday, people will see that and think “they’ve got some initiative and has tried out different things, I’ll give take them over someone else”

Step 1: Start plumbing! Your parents might not thank me if I suggest you re-do all the sinks in the house, but I’m sure there are ways to start practising without flooding the bathroom!

Perhaps you could try building the best water-clock you can think of?

Getting practice doing what you love is really important – you can learn more from doing something than from just reading about it!

…and if you invent a REALLY cool water-clock, can I have one for my living room?
