Right now I’m helping to design a camera system that measure the position of small reflective spheres up to 10 metres away (you could for example stick these onto an aircraft wing when it’s being assembled, so they can measure the position of the wing as they move it toward the aircraft so it gets put on straight and not crooked and break something). I’ve been working on it on and off for 1.5 years, and there’s still a year or two left to go on the project.
The Diamond particle accelerator itself is the biggest project I’ve worked on. I started that in 2003 when I joined the company and you could say that we still haven’t finished!
The machine opened in 2007, but we’re still always refining and improving it.
