Not exactly. I saw a news article recently about an artist who got Parkinson’s disease which made her shake so badly she could no longer draw. Some engineers designed a bracelet that had lots of tiny motors in it which made the bracelet shake in the opposite way to the disease. This meant she could hold her arm still and draw again. The happiness on her face was brilliant and makes me want to do things that help people too.
No – the world’s changed a lot since the people I admire were working – we’ve got different challenges to address so we forge our own paths. But it is helpful to have role models to look up to and learn from – inside and outside of work.
