I applied for my current job straight after finishing university. I worked in various places before like the London underground, in breweries and for maintenance companies so I knew I wanted to work with control systems. I chose water because I knew water plants could run automatically and there would be lots to learn. It’s also a job that will always be there, everyone wants clean water!
I was interested in the area of wind and renewable energy through a lecture series at university. When a company I’d done industrial placements in made me aware of job opportunities for graduate engineers in the wind part of their business I seized my chance.
Yes, I think being an electrical engineer is a good job for anybody. There is always things to learn, there is lots of jobs and there is plenty of chances to help people.
