I love watching my designs get built but my favourite work was probably fixing up an old caravan. I stripped the insides out and put in a shower, sockets and heating. I even installed batteries which let me play on my computer with the lights on during a power cut!
I worked on the renovation of Riding Wood Reservoir, which was a very complex project, it was very satisfying to see this project completed, ensuring that a 120 year old structure would remain safe for many years to come.
I think it has to be the first pressure vessel I designed. I had been given this project as a graduate engineer and it was my first time designing something that would actually be used on the oil and gas site. Having gone through all the design stages and seeing it fabricated, I felt a sense of achievement when it was installed on site.
The two new aircraft carrier for the Royal Navy – I doubt I’ll get the opportunity to participate in such a massive project again during my career as they are expected to remain in service for some forty years.
Yes, valley where the dam was constructed is very steep, making access very difficult for the equipment, such as excavators and cranes. We had to build a huge stone ramp to allow access.

That is very cool, was it difficult?
