I use maths to calculate cable and fuse sizes, to work out the power needed to run plants and to calculate the costs to buy and run new equipment. I have to run meetings and write reports which require good English skills. I also have to work out the time and cost of building things to make sure good business choices are made.

Communication and Teamwork skills are necessary because even if you have the best technical ideas but you can’t get them across or explained to your team they can’t be used.

I need to have an understanding of hydraulics, geotechnical engineering and structural engineering. I need to be able to work hard, communicate well with others and work well within a team.
I also need to take responsibility for my own actions and manage other people.
