• Question: is your job fun?

      Hi Arian (and Dr Campbell),

      Yes! Most of time. Like any job though there are bits that I don’t enjoy as much like the paperwork and other bits of management I have to do when I’d rather be in the lab. Sometimes I have to take a step back and remind myself that the boring bit of documentation I’m doing is for a really cool project which is going to end up in space! I also work with really great people who help keep things entertaining. Luckily my job is more fun than boring, that’s partly because I get to go to schools and talk to kids about what I do and that’s many things but never, ever dull!

      I have worked in lots of non-engineering and science jobs, this is my first engineering job – and by far my favourite!
      Sometimes it gets frustrating (like when something takes a long time or you have to write a report), but I get to design spacecraft!

      It’s definitely fun – the challenges change all the time and I get to travel and meet lots of different people, see lots of different things and then figure out how to interact with them.

      As well as fun, it can also be incredibly satisfying. When a solution comes together that actually solves a problem that you’ve identified it’s one of the best feelings in the world – particularly when it improves someone’s life.
