When the financial crash hit (in 2007 I think) one of the companies that we did a lot of work for could no longer run – so the company I worked for no longer had enough work for me.
At the time, I was gutted – I didn’t have a job and I had moved to a different area for that job – so I didn’t know people and I had no work!
In the long run, it has meant that I tried lots of different jobs for short times and it meant that I worked out what I did want to do: work on Spacecraft!
I think this was probably mainly directed at Katie rather than me. I’ve had a job fall through just before I even got a chance to do it – I had interviewed to work at a company called Double Negative who do visual effects for films like Batman and Inception and Interstellar. At the time I thought it would be the coolest job in the world and got myself too excited. It was also during the financial crisis and in the end they decided they were going to close all applications. Even though I was a bit gutted it meant I decided to go back and do a masters which lead to my job building spacecraft so I have no regrets! You can always spin a negative into positive 🙂
