I’ve had jobs that aren’t based on science or engineering, they were ok, but now that I am an engineer, I find that I really really enjoy my job. That said, I have lots of hobbies. I play cello in some orchestras, and I have a piano at home that I love to play. I also like making things, I am always trying to improve my paper-making, crotchet and sewing skills, I recently started to learn dress-making too. There aren’t enough hours for all the fun things to do!
I’ve had lots of other non-engineering jobs during my school and uni years, some more interesting than others. I think the best of these was working in a bookshop because I love to read. I occasionally do tutoring or give piano lessons alongside my engineering job too.
Outside of work I try to get outdoors as much as possible – I really enjoy hiking and cycling and have seen a lot of the UK by bike. I have an allotment where I enjoy growing my vegetables. Other things I love to do are travelling, photography, drawing, knitting. I was watching some kite surfing the other weekend and think I may have found a new hobby to try out!
