I’ve travelled quite a lot – I love travelling! I love seeing new places, meeting new people and eating new food (very important!). Before I went to university I took a year off and travelled around SE Asia, Japan, Taiwan and India for 7 months. During university holidays I went back to India because I loved it so much and also went to China. Because I’ve played in a lot of orchestras I’ve also visited a lot of countries in Europe to play music, like the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Croatia, Germany, and Portugal.
For work I’ve been to Moscow to help commission two spacecraft we built for the Russians. Commissioning is when you have to test the spacecraft just after it’s launched to make sure everything is working as you expect before you hand it over to your customer. I’ve also been to Belgium to do radiation testing – radiation is a big problem in space so we have t make sure our components won’t get corrupted. This involves travelling to somewhere where they have a particle accelerator. Like CERN but smaller!
It sounds like you might like to travel and if you ever get the chance I’d definitely recommend it!
