I wouldn’t say it’s easy. I would say it’s incredibly rewarding though =). You work on difficult problems, as a team normally, then try to solve that problem together. Some problems are much easier to solve than others. Some have taken people decades to solve whereas others have taken seconds. It really depends on the problem you are faced with!
Being an engineer is very rewarding because you are typically solving the needs of people and society. Where I work we provide astronomers with instrumentation so that they can do their experiments. For example we have been involved in the design and building of the mid-infrared imager for the James Webb Space Telescope. Building a space instrument has its own unique challenges which could be difficult to resolve. However we always managed to solve these. So guess it is not too hard, but also not too easy. Having challenges is fun!
