Your brother could certainly get a job like mine if he does well at university. He’d need to decide whether he wants to be mainly a scientist or mainly an engineer, or to mix the two, and things would be easier for him if he decides this before picking a university course.
Just about everybody who does physics or astronomy codes, but very few of the researchers are actually doing engineering. Some of them get jobs on telescope teams alongside engineers, but they do different work day-to-day. If Elder Brother just wants a job where he can code some of the time, he might enjoy the science side more than the hard-core engineering.
