Some are, some aren’t. They can seem boring if you’re not an engineer because when they talk with other engineers they talk about specifications and exciting numbers but day to day some are boring and some aren’t like if you asked “Are people boring?”.
Not to me! But then, if you are a railway enthusiast and you spoke to more railway enthusiasts you may say that they are not boring too!
I agree with James – some are and some aren’t on a daily basis – it depends on your enthusiasm to the topic.
So maybe you need to know whether engineering is boring.
I enjoy talking engineering because there is no silly answer. When trying to come up with a solution, even if you say something that may not be possible, it can spark an idea in another member of your team that can actually work really well! So a good imagination serves me well 🙂
I know some engineers who are always searching out the new and exciting (we are generally well travelled and have plenty of hobbies) and these are generally the best/most effective engineers.
What a brilliant question!! It depends on what you mean by boring? Some engineers love their jobs so much that they talk about nothing else but there is nothing wrong with that. Some engineers prefer to talk abouth their jobs only with other engineers so I don’t believe they are boring.
Engineering is a fascinating subject, it just depends on what you understand!!
It definitely depends on the person, but I have lots of engineer friends and each one is interesting in a different way. Because its such a broad field there isn’t really one ‘type’ of engineer.
They are if you aren’t interested in Engineering…… I think most engineers are interesting, or at least are involved with interesting things. I wouldn’t say everyone I meet it interesting, but that’s a matter of what you like I guess!
