There are Royal Navy people in Afghanistan (the Royal Marines are part of us!) so there are lots of people both in the UK and in other places nearer to Afghanistan who are supporting them.

Afghanistan is land locked, so it’s a bit harder to get things there by sea, but big items which are needed in Afghanistan are sent by sea. Part part of our job is making sure the ships which are transporting these can get there safely (it would be a really bad if those ships were taken by pirates for example!)

      Hello Branflakes123,

The C17 is one of the biggest aircraft around so it is always used to get machinery to the places that are hard to get to. Sometimes it may be tanks and trucks, other times it may be helicopters or food so i guess you could say that we support the soldiers by transferring machinery to them!

Watchkeeper should hopefully be deployed to the Army in the next year and they can use it to get recon on their surroundings when they are deployed.
