      Thankfully not a real one!

We do a lot of training, including Fire Fighting, to make sure we can deal with anything that might happen onboard (you can’t just call the Fire Brigade when you are in the middle of the ocean!).

We also do training exercises to practice having a really bad day! These exercise might be to let us practice accidentally going aground or being possibly shot at. The training teams use disco smoke to simulate fires, and specially designed boxes for dealing with floods.

Because everyone has a job to do in an emergency, it’s a really busy time, but hopefully it means we keep the ship and the people safe if a disaster did happen.

Nothing that exciting no… but speaking of engineering disasters a favourite urban legend of mine is that when they were designing the library for a university in America they forgot to take into account the weight of the books, so now the library is slowly sinking!
