The nice thing about working in engineering is that you work on projects. These generally have a defined finish point and you move on to your next. At the end, everyone looks back at the projects and looks at what went well, what could have gone better and what lessons you have learnt that everyone should take to the next project.
Projects don’t close until they are successfully completed. All my projects have been completed successfully, so maybe I can say I am 100% successful 😉
On the other hand if you measure successful by how in demand I am, I would say very successful.
How do you measure success?
Im not really sure how i would define success? I got my current job (working for a foreign government) based on my track record of maintaining aircraft so i guess you could say im quite successful but i wouldn’t want to boast!
I’m doing ok – so far I have passed my Charge Board (that’s an exam to test how good I am at my job) and I have almost completed my CEng (that’s another measure of my competence).
I think success depends entirely on your criteria! Success for me is setting goals and then achieving them….. I have been successful in achieving my goals so far and I have set a bunch of new ones….. some of them are personal goals as well as professional goals.
