My strongest asset is my organisation skills. This helps because I work on more than one project and there are lots of people demanding my time for consultation or advice.
My weakest is a little associated to the first. I’m often too thorough and detail oriented. This may not sound like a bad thing, but in business there is a set time allowed for research and then coming up with a sounds solution. If I miss a deadline or work on a project for too long, the company I work for starts losing money. I have to remind myself that good enough (fulfills all the requirements) is sometimes more important than coming up with the perfect solution.

      Hello greshmaxx,

Probably like Ivanka, my best asset is my organisational skills – these are very important in aviation because very often aircraft have to take off at a very specific time (its called a ‘slot’) so its important to ensure that all of the work is complete and the aircraft is ready to fly. If the aircraft misses its slot, it could mean that someone might not get the help or aid that the need so its important to be organised.

My biggest weakness is not being able to let go of my work – sometimes i’ll find myself workiing from home on my day off – My fiancee is not impressed!!

I work, like most women engineers, in a very male dominated environment….. of the 27 Engineers and Engineering Technicians who work for me….. about 22 of them are chaps.

I think my strongest asset (in this job at least) is my sense of humour! When you are stuck in a grey tin can for weeks at a time, you need a sense of humour!

Weakness, well there are things i’m not a brilliant at… they tend to be things I don’t like doing! I’m not a massive fan of exams. I think that’s probably because I like to get stuck in and “do stuff” rather than be examined….. where there is something you are not so good at, I think you just have to turn it around and figure out how you can do it another way. Unfortunately exams are a fact of life and the way I get around that is to work hard so I pass them first time and not have to re-sit them!
