My best achievement so far was getting the job. I had to attend an assessment day which was like a day long interview and then a week later I was asked if I wanted the job.
My best achievement was probably getting the job i currently have – The airplanes i currently work with are owned by The United Arab Emirates Government so i had to demonstrate my skills to them so they could see i was good at the job – I got the job so they must have liked what they saw!!
I think the best achievement was to know my safety legislation so well that I had to contradict the senior managers in two divisions in my company and a safety specialist in another. It was mainly to do with requirements to pass on information to the first people to start work on our site, so not a design decision, but I was proud that I managed to influence the project in such a big way.
My favourite engineering achievement so far was to be given a reinforced soil wall to design which I had never done before and will no other engineer who had done it either available in my office at the time. I successfully researched the best method of analysis and liaised with the other engineers to provide an excellent solution that passed all checks first time.
I think my best achievement so far has been completing my degree and like the others getting a job! Another achievement I am proud of was designing a product at university which was good enough to be sold in the shops.
I passed a major exam board in January which was a day long exam with a senior engineer asking me lots of really hard questions! I didn’t just pass, I smashed it so they will let me go and do another job (not on a ship) for a while which is very exciting also!
