I was always interested in technology at school, My dad was an engineer as well so i guees is was a natural step for me – I never though about doing anything else since!!
I had no idea what I wanted to be when I was younger and I didn’t really care. What I did know is that I wanted to learn more about how things worked like machinery, computers, the universe! So that’s what I did, I tried to learn more. I did a degree in Physics to try learn more but then I ran out of money. That’s when I realised that by becoming an engineer I could use all these skills that I’d learnt (like researching, working out how things worked) and get paid to use them!
When I was growing up I used to love science especially Physics, I was interested in how things worked and loved putting things together. When I was bought my first Meccano set I spent hours building things- cars, cranes, bridges… I was addicted! I really enjoyed Physics at A-level but I wanted to be able to apply the theory I learned to solve every day problems so engineering was perfect for me.
