• Question: Does your work affect me and my family?

      Well. I don’t know. A lot of the work that we do is paid by the government, so if your family are tax payers than it’s your money as well that are spent on our work.
      And me doing the work well improves the capability of the royal navy. Which one could argue protects the UK.

      Probably, but only so you wouldn’t notice. The government makes a contribution to UNICEF every year which comes out of the taxes we pay. Your family pays tax ? Then my work does affect you !

      Possibly… if you live by a river I may have improved it!

      Also I’ve improved some rivers for wildlife and there is an argument that improving our environment affects everyone. For example if we pay money to save the lives of dolphins, but you never get to see a dolphin, but you know they are safe, then that affects you in a positive way.

      Yes, my work is paid for by your water bills so we are accountable to teh public if we get it wrong.
      The work I do improves the quality of the water bodies you and your family my visit, swim in or fish in. Before sewers and sewage treatment waste just used to run down the streets and lots of people got ill. Unfortunately, this is still the case in many developing countries as Ken can surely testify. In countries without sewage treatment water bourne diseases are the biggest killer of all.
