Yes. However they should do what they are best at or what they enjoy most (which normally is the same thing). At least they will know plenty about engineering and will be able to make their choice.

My daughter is a public health specialist and happy in her work and in bringing up her children one of whom might become an engineer – but only if he/she wants to be an engineer. My son almost became an engineer until he discovered energy (oil, gas, alternative energies and so on) mixed with banking. Don’t ask because even I don’t fully understand exactly how his job works. However, to his credit, he lives in Woking, only a hop-skip-and-a-jump from McLaren’s factory, so I think he is a vicarious F-1 engineer. Also, he has two children, one of whom might become an engineer but only if he/she wants to be. . . .
I’ll certainly tell my daughter all about my job and how good it can be… but if she wants to be something different entirely then that’s totally fine with me!
