The last/latest “thing” that I built was a whole lot of water supply systems in Northern Iraq. I set up the system for designing and building them in the area. We had designed 328 different systems of which around 30 were complete by the time I left Iraq, and I inspected most of them to ensure that they worked. They did. They worked very well.
The last thing that I designed was a new propulsion system for a mine-sweeper vessel. We didn’t design the engine or the propellers, but we design a solution that integrates the engine and all bits that make it work in to the existing ship. The upgrade is currently being carried out in one of the dockyards at the south of England.
Actually the last thing I completed was a mongolian yurt! (google it for a pic – they are posh tents essentially).
I put this at Eynsham lock on the River Thames so people can hire it and stay there – and hopefully we will build more at other locations. Last year I was doing a different job where I was trying to find news ways to bring in some money from people using the river – to try and fund our work without so much money from the government. The yurts were one idea – and I think they look like fun to stay in.
