My Job Title: I'm a senior lecturer in Transport and Planning at the University of the West of England

About Me:
My research concerns the relationship between transport and the built environment, with a focus on traffic removal (see www.trafficremoval.uk) and alternatives to car-based development. My latest book Roads, Runways and Resistance tells a 30-year story of UK transport politics and controversial issues that have provoked protest movements. My earlier book Urban Transport Without the Hot Air aimed to bust myths about transport and propose sustainable solutions.
I have advised government departments, political parties and many local authorities over the years. And I was one of the expert speakers at the parliamentary climate assembly in February 2020.
Before starting an academic career, I was a parliamentary candidate, Community Development Manager and freelance journalist.
